Organizational Support in the Community
The VVH has the full support of many military-oriented community organizations. Among these - in Bennington and the surrounding area - are chapters of the American Legion, the Disabled American Veterans, the Vietnam Veterans of America and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Additionally, other service organizations such as the Elks are significantly involved in activities of the VVH. Among the activities sponsored by these very active organizations are picnics, steak nights, fishing derbies, bingo and movies.
Additionally, the local high school encourages residents to attend musical and sporting events, the Bennington Museum provides annual passes, and the Recreation Center offers reduced rates to residents.
