October 7, 2020
To All VVH Families and Friends.
Indoor visitation will begin on Tuesday October 13th. VVH has assigned one weekday and one weekend day for each neighborhood to have visits. The schedule is as follows:
INDOOR VISITATION SCHEDULE
Neighborhood Weekday Weekend
American Wednesday Sunday
Brandon Tuesday Saturday
Cardinal Friday Sunday
North Thursday Saturday
American and North: Old Smoking Room on East Haven (recently cleaned and updated)
Brandon: Namaste Room
Cardinal: Activities Room closest to the memorials.
Weekday: 1pm, 2pm, 3pm, 6pm, 7pm
Weekends: 9am, 10am, 1pm, 2pm, 3pm, 6pm, 7pm
30 mins in duration, if we are late getting Veteran or Member to the visit, we ensure the full 30-minute visit takes place. If visitors are late visit is reduced by the amount of time, they are late.
Appointments and screening remain unchanged from that of outdoor visits 48 hours in advance, please note the change in time to call and schedule and visitation appointment has changed to Monday to Friday 2pm to 4pm. No recurring appointments can be established. Families must call weekly as the ACCD travel map changes weekly.
Mary Smith will be our primary contact for scheduling visits, and she can be reached at 802-379-4542. If you receive her voicemail, please leave a message and she will return you call. When Mary is off or otherwise unavailable her phone will be forwarded to a staff member at VVH who will handle the scheduling of visits in Mary’s absence.
Visitors for American and North will enter through the outside entrance of the old smoking room and be screened by staff. They can park near the smoking room or in the employee parking lot. Just not the ambulance entrance.
Brandon and Cardinal visitors will park in the memorial parking lot and enter through the doors at the end of each neighborhood and then enter directly into the visiting rooms. Both rooms have access from the vestibule and visitors do not need to enter the neighborhoods.
Visitors must be asked each of the screening questions when making their appointment and at time of visit.
Visitation rules will be reviewed prior to each visit These rules are unchanged with the expectation of the addition of the three items below:
• Visitors must stay in the visitation area they cannot enter the facility for any reason, this includes using the restrooms.
• No passing of any items including food. Eating and drinking are prohibited during visits.
• No pets are allowed during indoor visits
Staff who are supervising the visit for American and North will sit in the hallway outside of the smoking room. Visits will be observed through the large windows.
For Brandon and Cardinal, staff have to stay in the visitation rooms and will position themselves as far away as possible to allow for privacy while ensuring they can supervise the visit.
Visits will be suspended if the facility or the community is experiencing any type of outbreak including but not limited to COVID-19, Flu or Norovirus (GI)
VVH reserves the right to end or suspend an individual’s ability to visit if they fail to follow our visitation guidelines.
Outdoor visits will cease when indoor visits begin. Families can still do window visits.
Please take note that VVH will not be clearing paths in the snow to Veteran and Member windows once the snow starts falling. We will attempt to identify areas for window visits to take place and work on the logistics of having to schedule these visits and ensuring proper cleaning between visits.
One final reminder VVH will continue with monthly staff COVID-19 testing. Per regulations all visits, indoor, outdoor, and window visits will be suspended, if an employee tests positive for COVID-19.
Indoor visits cannot resume until the facility has no new onset of COVID-19 positive residents or staff for at least 42 days. Outdoor and window visits cannot resume until VVH has no new onset of COVID-19 for 14 days.
